Uses

Moxifloxacin eye drops is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, infections of female upper genital tract, abdominal infections and infections of skin and eye.

How it works

Moxifloxacin belongs to a group of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It kills a wide range of Infection causing bacteria both gram positive and gram negative (broad spectrum). It acts by inhibiting enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) involved in DNA processes that are essential for bacterial growth and survival thereby killing the bacteria.

Common side effects

indigestion, nausea, breathlessness, swelling of eyes and lips ., abnormal blood counts, cardiac complications characterized by an abnormal ECG in individuals with low levels of potassium, taste disorders, Severe infections due to resistant bacteria or fungi, constipation, loss of appetite, increase in enzymes called transaminases, diarrhea, dizziness, gas, stomach upset and pain, confusion and disorientation, headache, palpitations, severe life-threatening allergy
