Melalong Cream 15gm (Mequinol)

Mequinol (Tretinoin) topical is used to lighten the skin that has become dark due to melasma (skin darkening due to sunlight exposure), freckles (dark spots on cheeks, nose, arms, and upper shoulders that appears at a very young age) and solar lentigines (‘age spots’ – brown or black spots on face, hands, shoulders and arms due to exposure to sun light).

How Melalong Cream (Mequinol (2%) + Tretinoin (0.01%)) works?

Mequinol (Tretinoin cream) belongs to class of medications called as melanin synthesis inhibitors. It bleaches the skin by reducing the accumulation of skin pigment called melanin that causes darkening of skin.

Tretinoin cream (Mequinol) is a form of vitamin A and belongs to a group of medications called as retinoids. It helps the skin to renew itself (causing peeling) and prevents skin inflammation.

Uses Of Melalong Cream (Mequinol / Tretinoin)

Tretinoin cream is topically used to treat acne (pimples), rough texture of facial skin, reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and mottled skin discoloration. Melalong is prescribed for patients suffering from dark patches that are a result of various skin problems. This drug bleaches the skin to lighten it by reducing the skin pigment called melanin so that the dark patches also go away. Retino A Micro 0.1% Gel is available in Gel form. The side effects of this drug may include reddening of skin, allergic reactions, inflammation and blisters.

• Use of sunscreen is a must while using Mequinol topical. Avoid unnecessary sun exposures and cover the treated areas with clothing. Even minimal exposure to sunlight can reverse the bleaching effect of Mequinol.
• Discontinue use and contact your doctor immediately if you develop allergic skin reaction or notice blue-black darkening of skin upon use of Mequinol.
• Avoid direct contact of cream with your eyes. In case of direct contact, wash your eyes with water immediately and seek immediate medical attention.
• Do not use Tretinoin cream on broken, irritated or injured skin.
• Do not use Mequinol creams with other creams that contain peroxides (hydrogen peroxide/benzoyl peroxide), resorcinol, phenol, or salicylic acid as it may cause unwanted side effects.
• You may be advised by your doctor to perform a skin sensitivity test to avoid any allergic reaction
• Use in children aged below 12 years is not recommended unless under the strict supervision of doctor.
