How To Use Eliquis 5 mg

Read the Medication Guide and, if available, the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start taking Eliquis 5 mg(Apixaban) and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Take Eliquis 5 mg(Apixaban) by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily (every 12 hours). The dosage is based on your medical condition, age, weight, kidney function, and response to treatment. If you are taking Eliquis (Apixaban) to prevent blood clots from forming after surgery, the length of treatment is based on the type of surgery that you had. Do not stop taking Eliquis (Apixaban) without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when Eliquis (Apixaban) is suddenly stopped. Use Eliquis 5 mg(Apixaban) regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.

Precautions to before taking Eliquis

Before taking Eliquis (Apixaban 5 mg) , tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Interactions of Eliquis 5 mg

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Other medications can affect the removal of Eliquis 5 mg(Apixaban 5 mg) from your body, which may affect how Eliquis (Apixaban) works. Examples include certain azole antifungals (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole), clarithromycin, conivaptan, HIV protease inhibitors (such as lopinavir, ritonavir), a certain combination HIV medication (such as elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir), rifamycins (such as rifabutin), St. John’s wort, drugs used to treat seizures (such as carbamazepine, phenytoin), among others.

Check all prescription and nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many medications contain pain relievers/fever reducers (aspirin, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen) that may increase your risk for bleeding if taken together with Eliquis (Apixaban) . However, if your doctor has directed you to take low-dose aspirin to prevent heart attack or stroke (usually at dosages of 81-325 milligrams a day), you should continue taking the aspirin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
