Description

Clavam Dry Syrup (Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid)

Clavam Dry Syrup (Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which destroy bacteria. It is active against many aerobic (those developing in presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (those developing in absence of oxygen) gram positive and aerobic gram negative microorganisms including strains which produce beta-lactamase (the enzyme which destroys penicillin). Clavulanate potassium comprised in the content of this medication provides resistance of Augmentin to activity of bacterial beta-lactamases.
Clavam Dry Syrup (Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid) medication is used to treat pneumonia and other infectious diseases of respiratory, gastrointestinal systems, urogenital systems, infections which appear after surgery and others. Dosage and directions Doses are administered individually depending on your condition, localization of infection and susceptibility of the pathogen. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Swallow the whole tablet. If it is the Augmentin Chewable tablet then chew it before to swallow. Augmentin should be taken at evenly spaced interval.

How dose Clavam Dry Syrup (Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid) works

Clavam Dry Syrup kills bacteria by interfering with the production of the bacterial cell wall (outer coating of bacteria). As a result, the bacterial cell wall is weakened and ruptured, thereby killing the bacteria. Clavulanic acid belongs to a group of medicines called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It blocks the activity of a chemical (beta-lactamase), which is secreted by bacteria to protect themselves from antibiotic drugs like amoxicillin, thereby allowing the antibiotics to act against the bacteria. It does not kill bacteria and is never used alone to treat infections.
